LA Trip IV: Chengdu Taste

I'd been looking forward to this meal at Chengdu Taste in Los Angeles for the better part of a week. No doubt about it: this is the best Szechuan I've ever had.

Beverages: smoky plum juice and hot tea.

Toothpick lamb. Tastes like a dry rub of cumin & salt, with garlic, cilantro & chiles. Stunningly good.

Noodles.

Slow roasted ham hock. Exquisite, with garlic, chiles and szechuan peppercorns.

And scallions. Guess what we had for lunch the next day?

It was so good, we decided to try the other Chengdu Taste on Valley Road. Here's that killer Toothpick  Lamb again.

Chile fish.

Similar to dishes we've had at places like Chili House in SF, but notably different due to the ingredients used, such as chinese celery & soybean sprouts.

Squid & vegetables over crispy rice. Note the cut on the squid.

Yeah, now look at the beautiful sheen from the sauce with this dish.

One last shot of the chile fish fillet dish. We had so much left over from this meal, that we just ate the rest of this tonight for dinner.
