Gourmet Noodle House, Geary & 2nd, SF

Robin & I discovered this new Shanghai hand-pulled noodle and dumpling place in the heart of SF's main Chinese restaurant hub, the Inner Richmond neighborhood of SF.

Home Style Duck. Boiled, I'm guessing. Delicious, tastes like it was boiled with whole spices.

Five Spice Shredded Pork w/Noodle Soup. Hand-pulled noodles in a soup that tastes like the standard Hot & Sour Soup you get at American Chinese restaurants, except this tastes like the real version, everything made from scratch including the pork broth base. Wood ear mushroom, ginger & carrot sticks, pork, noodle. The waitress kindly warned us this could be spicy. Was barely spicy at all, in my opinion, but folks like us can just add extra chili oil, as I had done with the duck, pictured above.

House Special Shanghai Steamed Dumplings. I've had many dumplings, and many hand-made dumplings (especially in this neighborhood, like at the other hand pulled noodle/dumpling restaurant on this same block), but never something quite like this. Filling tasted like minced pork with broth. Simple perfection. Careful not to burn your tongue!
