Pho Ao Sen, in Albany

This place just opened its second restaurant in Albany, where a Sizzler used to be.

Elegant touches abound, like these shelves of spice jars.

Table condiment: roasted chile oil with fish sauce and what appears to be zest.

I really wanted Pho or some other hot soup, and they brought out this tray of sprouts, basil, lime and sorrel as a prelude.

And here it is: Vietnamese Beef Stew. Rich deep stock with tender beef cuts, spices like Star Anise & Turmeric mesh with Lemongrass.

Rice noodles.

Every bite was a revelation: I've never had better.

Robin got some a Beef Vermicelli Bun which looked fabulous. But I was quite smitten. Can't recommend this place higher. Thrifty on the wallet.
