When I lived here ten years ago, there were a smattering of butcher shops (like Little City Meats in SF) doing local sourcing and making sausage in the Old World style around the Bay Area. But now there's tons of artisanal butcher shops. Here's one new to me, Thistle Meats in Petaluma. We got small quantities of several things, one sausage here, one pate there. Everything we got was unbelievably good. Most impressed with the Rabbit pate!
