We had an amazing meal here for lunch. Spices! 3 is located in Oakland's Chinatown. Seriously cheap, too.
On the left, Tan-Tan Noodles. On the right, Chinese Bacon with Garlic and Chili oil. Best version I've ever had of Tan-Tan Noodles, very satisfying. The Bacon didn't taste greasy at all.
Egpplant someone sharing our table was eating. Looks great.
Spicy fish fillet & tofu. With plenty of Szechuan peppercorns.
Plus we got rice and hot and sour soup, for less than $30. We could only eat half the fish soup, we were so stuffed. Perfect balance of spice, sour, umami, bitter. Great mouth feel. In my mind, only possible to equal a meal like this. As perfect as a meal can possibly be. Next time we're going to try some more adventurous dishes with variety meats including liver, kidney and "explosive intestines."
