Koryo Korean BBQ in Temescal, Oakland

Gal Bi at Koryo. All this rain made me hungry for Korean food. We were in the East Bay to run errands and meet with a friend who never called, so we decided to try a new place. Here's another one that's changed hands since it opened some years ago, reportedly one of the first Korean restaurants in Oakland.

There's the banchan, rice and sauteed squid.

Fantastic version of the squid in chile sauce. The banchan here is great too. Tastes like they make their kim chee in-house. Love the beet & apple banchan, also the burdock.

Oh yeah, then they brought us this fantastic seaweed soup!

Gal Bi, which is beef rib marinated, then cooked over live flame. Succulent & delicious, one of the best beef dishes I've ever had in California.
